The October 2010 issue of American Artist magazine features a step-by-step demo of an outdoor portrait, painted with a palette knife.  The painting is used to illustrate Hawthorne/Hensche's "mudhead" approach to color described by Michael Gormley in his article, The Artists' Colony.
